Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Winter Park Daily Snow

Update

It’s Friday morning, otherwise known as the day that we’ll see the beginning of the final major storm of the season!

On Thursday night, all snow showers stayed just west of Winter Park. Now at about 800 am on Friday morning, the first snow shower is just hitting Winter Park, and we could see more of these random and short-lived showers through Friday morning.

Then we should see more intense and steadier snow between Friday midday and Friday night as the best energy and moisture moves over northeastern Colorado.

We could see a few breaks in the snow on Friday night into Saturday morning, but the latest models now show that more snow will accumulate through the first half of Saturday, so we might get lucky with these additional Saturday snow showers keeping the sun at bay and keeping the powder fresh and cold.

In terms of total snow amounts from Friday morning through Saturday midday, I still like the 8-16 inch range. If for some reason we miss some of the more intense snow on Friday evening, amounts could be on the lower side. If everything comes together perfectly on Friday night and snow continues through midday Saturday, the high end of the forecast is a definite possibility.

The best time to ski powder will likely be on Saturday morning with powder on the ground and more falling through the first half of the day. Temperatures will be cold enough on Friday night and Saturday morning so that the quality of the powder will be good, though if and when the sun comes out on Saturday, the powder will get heavy quite quickly, so get after it early!

As a reminder, Winter Park's last day of the season will be on Sunday, April 22nd and Mary Jane's last day will be Sunday, May 6th.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
