Storms Break

Summary

It just kept snowing and snowing with huge totals for Arizona.

Short Term Forecast

The Monday storm delivered another 10-14" for Snowbowl and Sunrise. The storm will exit the State late Monday night. As previously discussed, the Pacific ridge builds into California over the coming days. This places AZ in a dry northerly flow regime for at least a week. Expect cold, sunny and breezy to occasionally windy afternoons into Thursday, with additional wind hold issues likely through the week, especially Tuesday morning and again Thursday. Friday into Saturday northerlies back to more westerly and calm down with temperatures moderating.

Extended Forecast

The Pacific ridge shows signs of breaking down and letting storm energy back into the West late weekend into next week. Too much variability in models at the moment to know how things will shake out going into February.

We need a few more students to register for our level 2 course, Feb. 10-13. It’s a tremendous three day experience, with at least two full days in the Inner Basin. Register by next weekend or the course cancels.
A previous Level 1 course certificate is required.
