Dry & Settled till Sunday, Less Settled Early Next Week

Summary

Around 10–15cm of snow fell between Monday night and Tuesday, helped along by ongoing snow showers and strong winds. Cold temps have allowed for solid snowmaking, setting the stage for a great week ahead. High pressure will bring clear, settled weather through the Australian Alps, with snow guns likely running overnight. Winds may pick up from the northwest on Sunday.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd June

A stretch of mostly fine weather is expected, with sunny skies and light winds dominating. Some lingering cloud may hang around Baw Baw early on, and high cloud will build at times later in the week. Winds will shift from light west-to-southwest to breezy northwesterlies by Sunday.

Extended Forecast

Early next week is shaping up to be unsettled as a system sweeps in from the west. Rain and strong northwesterlies are expected on Monday, with heavier downpours likely on Tuesday. A colder air mass midweek may bring some light snow to higher elevations through Wednesday and Thursday, before clearer, more settled weather returns under a ridge of high pressure for the weekend.

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out early Friday.
