Only Weak Storms & a Little Snow to Mid Month

After a mixed weekend, clearer weather returned Sunday as southeast winds eased. Monday stays fine with warm northerlies before weak fronts bring light rain and a dusting of snow midweek. This is followed by sunny days and cold, snowmaking-friendly nights from Thursday.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th August

From Monday to Wednesday, the weather shifts from a warm, sunny day with strengthening northerly winds to widespread rain and snowfall as fronts move in from the west. Snow accumulates mostly in higher elevations, with snow flurries reaching lower levels in Victoria by Tuesday night and 2-8cm falling Wednesday around 1500-1600m, while winds change from northwesterly to colder southwesterly.

Thursday brings mostly fine weather with easing cold southerly winds and some cloud over Mt Baw Baw. This is followed by a sunny, breezy day from the east-southeast on Friday.

Extended Forecast

A high-pressure ridge will bring cold nights and active snowmaking over the weekend. A cold front on Tuesday, August 12th, will likely deliver fresh snow to upper and mid slopes before settling into a few calm, snowmaking-friendly days.
