Sunny Tuesday before The Storm

Update

At 8am Tuesday morning no new snow has fallen overnight with clear blue skies and a temperature of -3 degrees in the village. For today expect sunny skies through the day and a high temperature of around 12 degrees at 8000’. Light SW winds will be in the range of 5 – 10mph with chill factors as low as -10.

The excitement is brewing as a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Gallatin County (Big Sky included) starting 5pm Wednesday and lasting through Thursday for 12-24” of snow above 7000’. A strong NW flow aloft will transport copious amounts of moisture into SW Montana with the snow starting around noon Wednesday with 2-4” likely by last chair. Daytime high temps (8000’) will slowly rise with the arrival of the storm but will top out around 28 degrees on Friday, so the pow will still be pretty light. Expect three stormy days with this storm so another 4-8” looks likely for Friday as well. Unsettled weather looks to stick around through the weekend with seasonal temperatures. Stay tuned for updates…
