Big Blue Skies
Summary
A ridge of high-pressure has parked itself over Montana and looks to stay awhile. Plan on daily doses of sunny skies and warm alpine temperatures through Saturday. For Tuesday, add moderate SW winds of 14-18, with gusts to 30 mph to the forecast across the alpine terrain and ridgetops. The ridge of high-pressure could break down on Sunday or Monday as that’s our next chance of any snow.
Update
Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 17 degrees in the Village and 20 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are clear over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the South/SE at 7 mph with a recent gust to 18 mph.
Today expect mostly sunny skies with high temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) to be around 32 degrees. Winds will be blowing out of the SW at 14 to 18 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
Extended Forecast:
High-pressure ridging will keep things dry through Saturday. Expect mostly sunny skies along with a warming trend as well. High temperatures across the alpine terrain (9000’) could approach 38 degrees by Wednesday and 40 by Friday. The high-pressure could be pushed east on Sunday by an approaching Pacific weather system but the weather models are still not yet in agreement on the timing of this system. It could arrive as late as Monday or Tuesday. Stay tuned.
