Summary
A ridge of high-pressure is currently situated over Montana bringing sunny skies and warm alpine temperatures daily through Saturday. This ridge of high-pressure now looks to weaken later on Saturday allowing the storm door to open for a Pacific system to move in Monday afternoon and Tuesday bringing colder temps and measurable snow back into the forecast.
Update
Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 17 degrees in the Village and 23 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are mostly clear with some high cirrus clouds over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the East at 3 mph with a recent gust to 4 mph.
Today expect mostly sunny skies with high temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) to be around 38 degrees. Winds will be light, blowing out of the South/SE at 6 to 10 mph.
Extended Forecast:
High-pressure ridging will keep things dry through Saturday. Expect mostly sunny skies along with continued well above average daytime temps. Morning lows through Saturday will continue in the low to mid 20’s. High temperatures across the alpine terrain (9000’) could approach 40 degrees Friday. The high-pressure now looks to weaken slightly on Saturday by an approaching Pacific weather system. This will only bring a few clouds Saturday afternoon, so will keep the forecast mostly sunny. Cooler air filters in on Sunday along with mostly sunny skies. Monday into Tuesday a bigger system looks to move into the Northern Rockies bringing much cooler air along with a return of measurable snow. The remained of next week also looks favorable for daily doses of snowfall.
