Not Ideal

Summary

Continued boring forecast. Our nothing burger this morning did turn out to be a nothing burger. We have another storm incoming on Friday morning and a smaller one on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I just don't think there is going to be any significant accumulations. Let's dig into it.

Short Term Forecast

Yeah I jiust don't see much in the way of accumulations for these couple storms. Check out the below total precipitation forecast through Sunday:

Pretty weaksauce. From early Friday to early Saturday, the northern locations pick up 1-3 inches of fluff. The storm is moving in from the northwest so there is some upside potential at Brundage with the temperatures being so cold. But the models are not picking up on it at all. Bogus will pick up 0-1 inches from Friday to Saturday. The next weak storm impacts the area on Sunday early morning. The storm is mainly going to affect Bogus and areas south. Bogus will pick up 1-2 inches and the northern areas will get 0-1 inches.

If you have the time and inclination to chase I would check out Targhee/Jackson Hole. Powder Mountain down in Utah will get the goods as well on a northwest flow.

Extended Forecast

The name of the game for the next week+ is frigid:

The cold is both good and bad news. Obviously we would rather it be cold and dry than warm and dry. But the issue is that it is so cold that any wet storms off the Pacific are having an issue getting into our area and we are kind of stuck with these slider systems coming in from the northwest.

It looks like we get a weak slider system next Tuesday (1/31) and a stronger slider type system next Wednesday (2/1). I will certainly keep you all updated if I see stronger incoming storms.

The ensembles have backed off a bit on the wetter trends starting turn of the month and are starting to show that the bulk of the precipitation stays north of us. Let's hope that doesn't bear out!
