Wet and Heavy Snow Coming for the Higher Elevations
Summary
Snow has been falling at Whistler all day on Wednesday so far with a rain/snow mix for other Coast Range areas, and snow is also starting to spread into the remainder of the Interior on Wednesday afternoon as well and will continue into the night. The next storm will bring more snow from late Thursday afternoon through Thursday night with freezing levels continuing to creep upward. The strongest storm of this cycle will impact BC from Friday morning through Saturday evening and will bring the heaviest precipitation amounts, but also very warm air with freezing levels rising to 2,000 meters (6,500 ft) Friday night and Saturday morning. Much colder air arrives Sunday along with another wave of light snow with freezing levels down to base areas. Following a cold and dry day on Monday, February 3rd, a couple of solid storms are projected to arrive from the northwest around February 4-5th, bringing dry powdery snow along with freezing levels below base areas - and as a result, better skiing conditions.
