Showers Thursday through next week, but big snow will not hit Colorado

Summary

A cold and snowy early-season storm should hit the west coast and the northern Rockies, but Colorado will likely see only lighter showers and light high-elevation snow accumulations through early October. Expect a few showers on Thursday, Friday, this weekend, and early next week (Sep 30 – Oct 2), though rain and snow amounts should be reasonably light for most areas. If you’re watching for peak leaf color, it appears that we’re about a week later than normal, and while there are golden Aspen groves to be found now, peak color across northern and central Colorado will likely be during the first few days of October (ish).
