All ski areas are closed / Thursday morning storm update

Summary

STATUS: To fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all Colorado ski areas are closed. Some mountains, including Vail Resorts, announced that this closure will continue through the end of the season. I know it’s inconvenient, but let’s all do our part of social distancing. From everything I’ve read, this really does matter and should help the situation work out much better than a worst-case scenario. WEATHER: As of Thursday morning, snowfall in the southern mountains is 8-14 inches with more on the way through the day. Other mountains are between 1-6 inches and the snow should intensify through Thursday and linger on Thursday night. The deepest additional totals should be 12+ inches near and east of the divide and also 6-12 inches somewhere over the central or northern mountains due to wrap-around energy. Snow showers will continue on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Next week, we’ll see a chance for a weak-to-moderate storm around Monday or Tuesday and then a stronger storm around Thursday or Friday.
