Update

Sunday was a mixed day with a peek of sunshine, lots of clouds, and a few snow showers. The snow stake showed no real accumulation throughout the day.

Sunday night was when we saw a period of steady snow with about 4 inches accumulating on the snow stake. We went into this storm looking for 2-5 inches with a low chance for higher totals, and the result was a measurement of about 4 inches, which was in line with our expectations.

Monday should bring another mixed day with a few snow showers left over, plenty of clouds, and maybe some sunshine by midday and afternoon.

Tuesday through Saturday will be dry and warm. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, temperatures will top out in the low-to-mid 30s each day and skies should be mostly sunny. On Friday and Saturday, temperatures will likely climb into the 40s and we could see more clouds cover the sky in advance of the next storm. During these springtime periods with warm daytime temperatures, the snow surface often becomes soft during the day, freezes at night, and starts firm in the morning. The best snow quality is usually mid-to-late morning after the snow has softened a bit.

Following our weak of dry weather, I do see two chances for storms.

The first chance for a storm will be from Sunday, March 8 to Tuesday, March 10. Then after likely dry weather during the middle of next week, the second chance for a storm will be from Thursday, March 12 to Friday, March 13. It’s too early to figure out the details of these storms since they are still about 7-10 days into the future. In the meantime, before these next storms arrive, it’ll be a beautiful week of weather to take advantage of the mountain, which has 100% of terrain open and a snowpack that’s 30% above average for this date.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
