Copper Mountain Daily Snow
By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 4 years ago March 1, 2020
Update
Saturday was mostly sunny during the day with comfortable temperatures that topped out between the upper-20s to mid-30s across the mountain. The calendar said that it was the final day of February but it sure felt like March!
Today on Sunday, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies and a few snow showers as the next storm heads toward Colorado. Temperatures will once again top out around 30°F.
The best chance for accumulating snow from the upcoming storm will be from Sunday late afternoon through Monday morning. The storm’s track is going to be far south of Colorado, and this track means that the odds for a lot of snow are low. The most likely scenario is that we’ll measure 2-5 inches of snow by Monday morning. However, all forecast models show that there will be a few narrow streaks of deeper snow totals, which means that if we get lucky and see one of these narrow streaks, we could get 5-10 inches. Keep your expectations on the low side, and also keep an eye on the snow stake camera just in case we see a high-side surprise. Monday morning will be the best time to enjoy the new snow.
From Tuesday through Saturday we will see dry and warming weather. High temperatures will rise into the 30s through Thursday and we might rise into the 40s on Friday and Saturday. The snowpack is 31% above average, which means that there is plenty of snow to enjoy even with a week or more of warm and dry weather.
Looking far ahead, our next chances for snow will be on or around Sunday, March 8th and Thursday, March 12th. We’ll talk more about these potential storms when they are a few days closer.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
