Update

Friday was a spectacularly beautiful day with deep blue skies and comfortable temperatures that warmed into the 30s during the day.

Saturday will be similar to Friday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 30s. We could see a few mid-and-high-level clouds filtering the sunshine at times.

From Saturday night through Monday we’ll see chances for snow from a storm that will be tracking far to the south of Colorado. On Saturday night and Sunday, any snowfall will come from scattered and random showers. Then the best chance for steadier snow will be on Sunday night into Monday morning. Because the storm is tracking even farther to the south than earlier expected, I am going to lower my ‘best guess’ forecast to 2-5 inches. However, all forecast models show that there will be a few narrow streaks of deeper snow totals, which means that if we get lucky and see one of these narrow streaks, we could get up to 10 inches. The best time to enjoy any of the fresh snow that does fall will be on Monday morning.

From Tuesday through Thursday, storm energy will track near and north of Colorado. We’ll be on the fringe of this energy, which means we’ll see times of clouds and snow showers, and likely some times of sunshine as well.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, next weekend (March 7-8), and next week (March 9-13), the main area of storminess will anchor itself just west of the west coast. This is not a favorable pattern for consistent snow here in Colorado, but we might see individual storms break off from this main area of storminess and head toward Colorado. So going into mid-March, are odds for consistent snow are pretty low, but odds are for at least some snow are reasonable. Also, our base is 32% above average, so there will be plenty of snow to enjoy across the mountain even if natural snowfall is lacking early in the month.
