Light snow on Saturday possible at Copper
Summary
Thursday and Friday will be dry with plenty of sunshine. Then we’ll see light snow on Saturday before dry weather returns for most of the following week.
Short Term Forecast
Wednesday morning’s turns were soft and I hope that you enjoyed them. Weatherwise, Wednesday was a sunny and dry day.
Thursday and Friday will bring similar to Wednesday with mostly sunny and dry weather and comfortable afternoon temperatures. The only wrinkles in the forecast will be the chance for a few flakes on Thursday night, and also that temperatures on Friday will be a few degrees cooler compared to Thursday.
On Saturday, a storm will track south of Colorado and this will bring a wind from the east. A wind from the east is not favorable for snowfall, though we might see enough storm energy and moisture to bring at least some flakes and light accumulations.
Extended Forecast
From Sunday through most of next week, we should see dry weather as the main storm track will stay to our north and east. If any system happens to track just a bit farther south, we could get clipped with a bit of snow and cool air, but the odds are strongly favoring dry weather.
The weekend of January 16-17 could be a transition time when the storm track begins to shift closer to Colorado. We could still wind up with dry weather, or we could see a chance for snow.
Then the week of January 18-22 is when the weather pattern should start to become more fun with the storm track moving closer to or over northern Colorado.
There is no exact date that we can pinpoint to know when the pattern will become stormier, but the trend in the forecast is a good one and odds are favoring a high chance for storms during the final 10 days of January.
