Flakes and cold temperatures continue

Summary

We saw snow on Monday night, and the storm will stick around through Wednesday night.

Update

Monday was cloudy and dry, then snow fell on Monday night. We only managed to eke out 1-2 inches as a few of the squalls that moved through missed us to the north and south. The overall setup of this storm is not favorable for Copper thanks to winds generally from the south, southwest, and west-southwest, but I thought this first part of the storm would still deliver more than 1-2 inches.

Now on Tuesday, temperatures are cold, around 10°F, and we'll be on the edge of additional snowfall during the day. Most models show steady snow just to our south, and a few models hint that this snow could sneak up northward over Copper. This is iffy and I could see it going either way (some steady snow setting up or not much new snow).

From Tuesday night through Wednesday night, we will see a better chance of significant snow as periods of snow will move across Colorado and we could see 4-10 inches of accumulation. Again, the overall storm setup is not ideal, so if we don't get lucky we'll see just a few more inches, and if we get lucky, maybe we'll get up to 10+ inches. Our best chances for soft conditions will be during the day on Wednesday (storm skiing) and maybe on Thursday morning (if we can sneak out a little snow after lifts close on Wednesday afternoon).

Thursday and Friday will be mostly cloudy and cold with high temperatures in the single digits. We could see a little snow on Thursday night from a moisture-starved storm that will track across Colorado.

Saturday will be sunnier and warmer with a high temperature in the teens.

Then Sunday, February 27 through Thursday, March 3 will be warm with high temperatures in the 20s and 30s. We might see some flakes on Tuesday, March 1, but right now the chance for accumulating snow is low for Tuesday.

Far out into the future, the next storm will move through the Rockies between about March 4-8, but it's too soon to know if this system will bring us snow or if it'll miss Colorado. It'll be at least a few more days before we know more.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!
