Powder day

Summary

Intense snow fell on Wednesday night which means that there will be fresh powder on Thursday morning.

Update

Wednesday was a mixed day with a few breaks of sunshine, some snow showers, and light accumulations.

Then late on Wednesday afternoon and on Wednesday night, a period of intense snow quickly dropped 7 inches across the mountain.

Almost all of this snow will be fresh and ready to enjoy on Thursday morning. If you're out there on Thursday, dress warmly as temperatures will be in the single digits (with some wind) during the day.

Friday will also be cold with high temperatures in the single digits. This should help to preserve the midweek powder, though, with clearer skies, the mid-March sunshine can quickly moisten the snow and turn it mushy, especially on south-facing and non-shaded slopes.

Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and warm with high temperatures in the 20s. The snow surface will likely turn moist during the day and then firm up and become crusty at night.

On Sunday night, snow will return thanks to a strong yet fast-moving storm. Snowfall should be in the 2-6 inch range and there will be soft turns on Monday morning on the groomers or any shaded north aspects that didn't get too warm during the weekend.

Looking further ahead, more snow is likely during the end of next week, around March 17-19, with another storm, or series of storms, sometime between March 21-24.
