Snowflakes have returned

Summary

About 2 inches of snow fell across the mountain on Saturday night, and we'll see additional snowfall on Sunday, Sunday night, and Monday.

Update

Saturday was dry during the day, then the incoming storm dropped the first wave of snowfall on Saturday night with about 2 inches accumulating at mid-mountain.

There will be three more rounds of snow during this storm.

The first round of snow will be a few more snow showers on Sunday with light accumulations.

The second round of snow will be additional snow showers on Sunday afternoon and Sunday night with 1-3 inches of accumulation. This is when storm energy will track close to (but south of) the mountain.

The third round of snow will be wrap-around snow showers on Monday with anything from a dusting to 3+ inches. This is when the storm will strengthen to the east and a favorable wind from the northwest *might* deliver a few fluffy inches of snow.

Summarizing the storm, the new snow should soften the snow surface and maybe help the operations team open more terrain, but total accumulations will not be significant.

After the storm, we'll see dry weather on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with high temperatures in the 30s.

Then the next storm should bring snow from Thursday night through Friday, and it might extend into Saturday morning as well. Early indications are that this will be another 'moderate' storm with enough snow to perhaps soften the slopes and open a bit more terrain. This post-Thanksgiving storm should also deliver cold temperatures, with readings in the teens from Friday through Sunday (November 24-26), and these cold temperatures should allow snowmaking to occur around the clock.
