On Thursday afternoon and Thursday night, a storm tracked through southern Colorado and then strengthened to the southeast of Colorado. Unfortunately, the latest model forecasts turned out to be correct as we received just a little bit of snow with the mid-mountain snow stake showing a coating to 1 inch.

Friday

We'll see a mix of sunshine, clouds, and maybe a few snowflakes as well. Temperatures will be cooler with a high of around 20°F.

Saturday, January 27 to Thursday, February 1

Most of the time from Saturday (January 27) to the following Thursday (February 1) will be dry, mostly sunny, and warmer with high temperatures in the 30s.

The only wrinkle in this sunny forecast will be on Sunday and Monday as maybe a few more low clouds hang around or just to the north of the mountain.

Otherwise, enjoy the sunshine, good visibility, and comfortable temperatures, and be mindful that there could be a melt/freeze crust that develops overnight (due to warm daytime temperatures and cool nighttime temperatures), so morning groomers or midday non-groomed trails may offer the best conditions.

Friday, February 2, and Beyond

Days ago, the longer-range forecasts pointed to a stormier weather pattern starting around Friday, February 2.

The good news is that the longer-range forecasts continue to point toward a stormier weather pattern, and it's becoming more and more likely that multiple storms will bring snow to Colorado between Friday, February 2, and Friday, February 9.

We will narrow down the forecast over the coming days, and I am hopeful that at least some powder will return by next weekend.
