Sunday
On Sunday morning, there will be 2-3 inches of new snow that fell on Saturday night. This new snow is dense because temperatures warmed during the storm.
Weatherwise, Sunday will be dry with temperatures warming into the 30s and some sunshine for most of the day if the low clouds can clear away. Winds will be gusty near the summit, especially later in the afternoon.
Sunday Night & Monday
The next storm should drop 4-8+ inches of snow from late Sunday night through Monday midday. The storm will bring fast wind speeds on Sunday night and Monday morning, which could make the initial snow quality thicker, and then temperatures will cool on Monday, so any additional snow that falls on Monday early morning through midday should be fluffier. Monday's temperatures should be in the 10-15°F range.
There is some upside potential for the snowfall on Monday. The jet stream will be close by, and this often creates narrow bands of intense snow. Also, a wind direction from the northwest, lingering moisture, and cooling temperatures can coax the atmosphere to produce more snow than is forecast by many models. Because some of the new snow will fall on Monday, after the 5 am morning report, conditions could be sneaky good during the day.
Longer Range
Tuesday will be dry with a high temperature of 10-15°F. We could see sunshine, or low clouds may hang around.
Wednesday should be dry with a high temperature of 15°F and some sunshine.
On Wednesday night and Thursday, a storm should deliver snow to the northern mountains of Colorado and this could result in 1-4 inches of accumulation with some powder possible on Thursday's first chair.
Friday will likely swing back to dry weather with a high temperature in the upper 20s.
Then from Saturday, January 4 through Wednesday, January 8, multiple storms should bring snow, and there could be multiple powder days during this period. Stay tuned.
