Copper Mountain Daily Snow

By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 8 years ago February 28, 2017
Update
Copper received 3 inches of snow on Monday night and light snow is continuing to fall now on Tuesday morning. I think we’ll see light-to-moderate snow through the day on Tuesday which should result in another few inches of accumulation.
The weather pattern on Monday night and Tuesday is actually not super favorable for heavy snow at Copper because the wind direction is from the west-southwest. By Tuesday afternoon and evening, the wind direction will switch to blow from the west and northwest, which is more favorable. Even though moisture will be waning on Tuesday evening, the wind direction is good, so we should see at least a few more inches after lifts close, which will provide soft turns on Wednesday morning.
The weather from Wednesday through Sunday will be mostly sunny and dry, then a storm could clip northern Colorado on Sunday night into Monday, and this may result in a few clouds and flakes at Copper. After that, the sunny weather will resume through at least March 10th, with our next storm slated for sometime between March 10-15.
