GoI70 Traffic Forecast

Monday

We picked up 1-4 inches for Monday's reports, which is the zone of the 1-3 inch forecast. We'll continue to receive off-and-on snow showers through Monday afternoon with temps in the single digits ahead of clearing skies on Monday night.

Tuesday - Wednesday

Dry weather will then prevail for a short time on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temps will finally climb back up to near average for late March with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Thursday - Friday

Ready for more snow? Following the break on Tuesday and Wednesday, we'll be tracking another decent-looking storm for Thursday and Friday.

Thursday will start out partly sunny with temps ranging from the mid-20s to the low 30s. We'll then see wind speeds and cloud coverage quickly increase on Thursday afternoon ahead of heavy snow on Thursday night and into Friday.

Like nearly every storm this season, this storm will once again focus on areas further west for the deepest totals. Beaver Creek will be looking at 4-8 inches, with 3-6 inches along the rest of the corridor from Thursday night through Friday. Expect full-on storm skiing conditions on Friday, with temps in the single-digits to low teens, followed by leftovers on Saturday morning.

Travel Forecast

Icy and snow-packed road surfaces will be encountered through Monday morning. Expect slower travel speeds during this time, especially along eastbound I-70.

Dry road surfaces prevail from Monday afternoon through midday Thursday. Expect normal travel speeds on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning.

Wet road surfaces will then return during the second half of Thursday, followed by icy and snow-packed road surfaces from Thursday night through midday Friday. Expect difficult travel conditions on Thursday night and slower travel speeds on Friday morning.

Mostly dry road surfaces and normal travel speeds return next weekend, April 1-2.

NOTE: We're entering that time of year when the higher sun angle really begins to be our friend in regards to quickly clearing icy/snowy road surfaces during the daylight hours. Heavy snowfall rates can still overcome this higher sun angle so always remember to take it slow and give yourself extra travel time while driving during times of intense snowfall rates.

Extended Forecast

Saturday & Beyond

Mostly dry weather will begin to prevail through Friday night. We should then continue to receive mostly dry weather on Saturday, April 1 and into Sunday, April 2 but I can't completely rule out lingering snow showers. Expect temps in the 20s each day, with increasing wind speeds on Sunday.

Looking ahead to the first week of April, we'll be watching for yet another stormy week to develop. We'll likely see light snow showers on Monday and Tuesday ahead of a stronger storm sometime around Thursday, April 6. There are hints of drier pattern as we head into the middle of April but confidence is low...
