Summary:

  • Dry through Wednesday.
  • Snow Wednesday night through next Monday.
  • Icy road surfaces.
  • Traffic delays possible through Sunday.

Details:

We have a lot to talk about over the next week so lets get right to it.

The corridor will stay dry through Wednesday evening as our next storm moves into the Western US. What's going to be tough about the forecast through the Thanksgiving weekend is that the storm will stall to our west and not hit us directly. The good news is that we should see snow through next Monday. The bad news is that the corridor doesn't look favored for any period of heavy snow. Consistent snow will keep the runs soft and the road surfaces in better shape so I guess we can't complain too much!

Here's what we have through next Monday:

  • Our first wave of snow will move across the I-70 corridor on Wednesday night and into Thanksgiving Day. Totals should stay on the lighter side but very cold temperatures could make the road surfaces extremely icy, especially from the Eisenhower Tunnel and east to Denver.
  • Snow will then move to areas south and east of the corridor Thursday night through Saturday but we should still see light showers along the corridor. The road surfaces should stay mostly clear but icy spots will be present.
  • Better chances for snow will then move into the corridor Saturday night through Monday as another good wave of showers moves into Colorado. The winds look like they could blow from the west and/or northwest so look for increased chances for heavier showers during this time.

This storm will have a mind of its own and the details will likely change so stay tuned to the forecast throughout the weekend.

In regard to traffic along the corridor, here's what we have going on.

  • Westbound
    • Light delays are possible from 5pm to 9pm on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
    • Light delays are possible on Thanksgiving Day from 6pm to 9pm.
    • Light delays are possible on Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm.
    • Delays are possible on Saturday morning from 6am to 10am.
  • Eastbound
    • Light delays are possible on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 9pm.
    • No delays anticipated on Thanksgiving Day or Friday.
    • Light delays possible on Saturday from 3pm to 6pm.
    • Longer delays are possible, especially with snow in the forecast, from 11am to 6pm on Sunday.

Well that's all for today. Next update on Wednesday!
