Loveland opens today + BIG changes next week

Summary

Beautiful weather will continue through early next week. Changes then arrive by the middle of next week as the door finally opens for colder and stronger storms. First round of snow arrives next Thursday, November 17th, followed by continued periods of storminess into the second half of November.

Short Term Forecast

Still not a lot to talk about through the upcoming weekend and into early next week. Temperatures will stay well above average, with little to no precipitation in the forecast. There will be a quick moving shortwave that will slide across the Rockies this weekend but again, not much action there.

The first piece of exciting news for today is Loveland Ski Area opening for the 2016-2017 season! Here's a shot from their Facebook early this morning as they put the final touches on the base area.

I'll be up heading up their shortly after this post and I hope to see many of you as well!

Extended Forecast

The second piece of exciting news that I have today is BIG changes coming to our weather by next Thursday, November 17th. This change should finally usher in much colder temperatures and multiple shots for snow through the second half of November.

Below is the precipitation forecast for Keystone over the next 10 days. This graphic provides 51 versions of the European ensemble model and you can see that almost every bar shows a nice little kick for next Thursday.

Much colder temperatures will also accompany this transition so if you like the warm weather, enjoy it now because winter is finally coming!

Initial forecasts give us 2-4 inches for next Thursday's storm but we'll see how it trends through the weekend.

That's all for today. Have a great rest of your week and get ready because winter is finally on the horizon!
