Low Snow Levels Saturday...

Update

**You should have chains if traveling over Sierra passes through Thursday.**

Saturday:

Saturday we will continue to see snowfall with chain controls from around Crystal Springs-Exit 148 to the NV state line.  The snow is expected to taper off by Saturday evening, but chain controls could remain into the night with the snow packed roads.

Monday Night - Wednesday Night:

We are expecting a break Sunday and Monday with clear roads.  Then Monday night through Wednesday night the next storm moves in.  This storm is expected to see over the area for 3 days dropping light to moderate snowfall.  Snow levels look to hover between 4,000-5,000 feet.

We could see chain controls from Whitmore Grade-Exit 154 (maybe lower) through Truckee.  Depending on the intensity of the snowfall the chain controls could change or be lifted at times.  But be prepared throughout the period.

Long-Range:

We could see another storm Friday night into Saturday the 8th, and more storms the week of the 10th.  So be prepared if planning to travel through the Sierra.
