Stay at home; weather + snowpack update

Summary

Coronavirus update: A statewide stay-at-home order is in effect statewide in Idaho. All Idaho ski areas are closed for the season. Backcountry skiing/riding is discouraged statewide to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). See more details in announcements. Snow storms earlier this week really boosted snowpack numbers statewide in Idaho. See map below. A new storm system comes into the Northern Idaho region on Thursday/Friday bringing several inches of new snow through Saturday. Continued unsettled conditions will prevail in N. Idaho through the weekend, but snow quantities over the next 5 days are in the 4-6 inch range. Mostly sunny and partly cloudy conditions are forecast in Southern Idaho on Thursday and Friday, and then a weak storm system comes into the picture on Saturday/Sunday, bringing a chance of 3-4 inches of snow through Sunday and Monday. Warmer temperatures may bring a rain/snow mix during that storm cycle. Continued unsettled conditions will prevail going into next week, with a chance of snow every day.
