Next storm cycle favors N. Idaho resorts, up to 7-8 inches expected

Summary

The snowy forecasts for Southern Idaho ski resorts during Thanksgiving week fizzled into a light dusting on Monday and Wednesday, while the next storm is predicted to bring over 6 inches of powder to Schweitzer Mountain, Silver Mountain and Lookout pass on Tuesday night/Wednesday. Happy for Idaho Panhandle skiers and riders! Cold temps everywhere will provide good snow-making conditions.

Short Term Forecast

Gif shows potential inches of new snow from Sunday, 11-22 through Tues, 12-1 (Courtesy Weatherbell).

The storm track is definitely favoring Northern Idaho ski areas, while Brundage, Tamarack and Bogus Basin maybe see 1-2 inches of new snow on Tuesday night/Wednesday. No snow is forecast at Sun Valley. Sunshine is forecast at Southern Idaho resorts on Thursday-Saturday.

Northern Idaho resorts will be the most snow out of the mid-week storm system on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving! An inch or two is expected to fall on Thursday as the storm system exits Idaho.

Global ensemble model map shows the probability of more than 3 inches of snow falling through Dec. 1. Dark colors mean 90-100 percent chance. Again, this particular storm system is favoring N. Idaho.  (Courtesy Weatherbell)

Extended Forecast

Long-term weather maps are showing a good chance of below-normal precipitation in the next two weeks.

30-day forecast map is showing potential for more precipitation, thank goodness~!
