2nd wave delivers 8-12" new for Monday AM pow day!

Summary

Wow, the second storm wave Sunday night came through in a big way for Tamarack (12" new Monday AM), Pomerelle (10"), and Brundage (8") ... who's calling in sick? We'll have a break in the action on Monday, with maybe partial clearing, and then 10-12" more snow coming Tues/Wed in N. Idaho and 2-8" in Central and Southern Idaho mainly on Wednesday.

Short Term Forecast

Eleanor Jewett and friends caught a sweet powder field in their backyard in Hailey (courtesy Eleanor Jewett). Sun Valley got 3" out of the latest storm cycle, but there's plenty of *pow* in the backcountry.

Storm totals from the Saturday-Monday twin storm event:

  • Tamarack Resort - 12" overnight for Monday AM pow day.
  • Brundage - 12" Sunday and Monday AM
  • Pomerelle - 10"
  • Lookout - 6"
  • Silver Mountain - 3"
  • Sun Valley - 3"
  • Schweitzer - 2"

Enjoy the pow on Monday for those who can break away!

On Tuesday-Wednesday, a moisture-laden storm system with a westerly flow will push through Idaho. More than a foot of new snow is forecast by EOD Wednesday at Schweitzer, Silver and Lookout. Should be about 5-6" each day.

In Central and Southern Idaho, the storm is expected to deliver 2-4" in most locations and up to 8" at Brundage. Nice to see the snow amounts rising from a variety of forecasts with this storm event!

And then by Thursday, we'll dry out for the rest of the week.

Extended Forecast

The next storm is expected to roll into Idaho this weekend. Light amounts are forecast at the moment.

Thanks for reading! My next forecast will be on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
