Mostly sunny and warm for final Bonus Weekend!

Summary

Sun Valley is operating daily through Sunday, Lookout is reopening today through Sunday, Bogus and Brundage reopen Saturday for a bonus final weekend, and Silver Mountain reopens Saturday for the Leadville Triathlon. Weather will be sunny and warm everywhere Saturday with a high temp near 50. Ditto Sunday in C. and S. ID, and a bit topsy-turvy Sunday in N. ID to finish off the ski/ride season.

Short Term Forecast

Bogus Basin will be hosting a pond skim on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. for an entertaining season finale. The event is limited to the first 150 people who sign up. Registration runs 8:30-10 a.m.

Brundage Mountain will host the "Last Chance Rail Jam" Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Free entry. Registration starts at 10 a.m. All of the action happens in front of the lodge.

Carolyn Dickinson, Gwen Asmussen and their team of four rocked the Cardboard Derby last weekend at Brundage, winning first prize ... Gotta say, they knocked it out of the park with the design execution of "Sharlie's Angels" and made it down the course without crashing!

The weather has cooled off this week with a Low Pressure trough overhead and a cold front passing through on Wednesday, April 17. Things are a bit unsettled mid-week as we're in a donut hole from a big-picture perspective, surrounded by High Pressure above. By Friday, the Low trough will be shoved to the east, and that'll make for a warm sunny day on Saturday.

Lookout Pass has 1" of new snow on Wednesday morning, and they'll have partly sunny skies with a high of 40 degrees. Skies get more sunny and temps get a bit warmer each day to reach 50 degrees by Saturday. Silver Mountain will hit 47 degrees with sunshine on Saturday - great conditions for their last day of the season and the Leadman Triathlon (skiing, biking and running; team or individual).

There's a weak disturbance that'll come in Saturday night that will bring some clouds and squalls on Sunday at Lookout Pass. I noticed they're operating from 9 a.m. to an early closing time of 1 p.m. on Sunday.

At Sun Valley, it's all sunshine this week with daily ops leading up to their final weekend of operations on the Warm Springs side of the mountain. (Seattle Ridge and River Run are closed). Temps on Wednesday will reach the mid-30s with breezy conditions and a NW wind. Things warm up progressively each day to reach 43 degrees by Friday, 51 on Saturday and 49 on Sunday.

Brundage and Bogus will have all sunshine for their bonus weekend (might be some clouds at Brundage Sunday AM from the disturbance up north). High temps will be nudging 50 degrees on Saturday and Sunday at Bogus, and Brundage will cool down to the mid-40s on Sunday. Snow should stay in good shape with those kinds of temps to finish out the season.
