Sun Train Continues

Summary

A continuation of the sunny and milder weather continues. No precipitation in the forecast for the foreseeable future. Th earlier we might see snow is the last week of January. There is little evidence to suggest it will be a major storm though so we might have to wait until February to really see the snow ramp up again.

Short Term Forecast

Apologies for the later post everyone. I have been sick the last few days so getting up in the mornings and staring at a screen has been on the tougher side. I seem to be doing a little better now, but still not 100%. Hoping by this weekend I'm back to speed.

Anyways... I don't mean to sound like a broken record but unfortunately during our classic mid-winter dry spells that is what I'm going to sound like. The sun and mild weather will continue all of this week and all of next week...

This Week

High temps will moderate down into the lower mid to lower 30's on the mtn after seeing close to 40 degrees today. A little more wind and clouds are possible going into Thursday compared to today, Wednesday. By Friday though the sun returns in earnest and lasts through the weekend. Lows will flirt with the freezing mark on some nights and other could drop a little below. Either way though the snow quality is likely to be better a couple hours into the morning after the sun hits it a bit. Winds will mostly stay light throughout the week with no major systems coming in it will just be typical afternoon breezes 10 - 15 MPH.

Extended Forecast

Next Week

If you like the weather this week, then you won't be disappointed by the forecast for next week. It's really going to be more of the same.

The storm door pretty much stays completely closed for all of California. The ridge that is sitting overhead right now shifts slightly off the coast, which brings a change mostly to our temperatures. They look to stay a little cooler in the lower 30's and high 20's most of next week with low's mostly in the 20's. Unfortunately though, the position of the ridge is still not favorable for much if any moisture making it's way into the Central Sierra. The ridge may continue to shift further West and North up towards Alaska and Gulf there by the last week of January. That's when we can expect a shift to maybe some moisture making its' way into the Mammoth region. Till then... enjoy the sunny skies.

Till the next one...Mike out.
