Welcome to Spring

Summary

We'll see a final bigger storm come through today on Tuesday and clear out by Wednesday morning. Snow shower chances hang around through the end of the week with the best chance for accumulating snowfall on Saturday night. Next week continues to look active but with weaker storms most likely.

Short Term Forecast

Welcome to the first full day of Spring! Hey... we have a blizzard today hah! Wouldn't have it any other way this year...

Tuesday & Wednesday Snow

No new snow fell yesterday, which was about what I expected. The snow will start in earnest later this morning. Temps this morning are cold in the teens and single digits. They will warm into the 20's at the bases and the winds will pick up throughout the day as well. At the moment East Northeast winds are over the summit. South Southwest winds could get gusty into the 50 - 60 MPH range later this afternoon as the core of the storm really blows through.

The snow showers will continue into Wednesday morning but at this time Wednesday is starting to look less snowy and just more cloudy with Southwest winds up to 30 MPH. We'll see if we pick up any more accumulation after the 6 AM measurement.

My forecast is going up a bit with 13 - 19 inches of snow for Main Lodge and upwards of 24 inches for the summit. This will be the last big storm for us for at least a week if not longer. I'm sure that comes as such sad news for many...

Thursday & Friday

It's interesting because the models are now showing the chance for snow showers on Thursday. All of this past week we've had them show Thursday as dry and today... not so much. Granted it won't amount to much but it's not as likely that we'll see bluebird skies at this point. Temps will be cool on Thursday and Friday with mid 20's and teens. Quite cold for late March. Winds should stay under 40 MPH out of the West during this period.

Friday it could be sunny or we could see snow showers. Temps will be similar to Thursday. Amounts if anything falls between the 2 days could be in the 1 - 3 inch range.

Saturday

The theme continues on Saturday with the possibility of snow showers. Temps could be even colder on Saturday with teens across the mtn. A better chance for snowfall is possible on Saturday afternoon into the evening. Winds will continue to stay under 30 MPH.

Accumulations are likely to be in the 1 - 4 inch range by Sunday morning. I'll continue to update on this if there's a chance the storm doesn't come in or comes in stronger.

Extended Forecast

The models have been a bit all over the place for what happens going into next week. This is to be quite expected given the fact that Spring is a volatile period for forecasting and the models struggle with it. I'm still pretty confident we'll see some snow next week.

At this time the models are trying to converge on the last 2 days of the month and right into the first weekend of April our chances continue. Snow chances increase on Tuesday, March 28th and continue into next weekend. Light amounts are forecasted at the moment.

I'll keep you posted on what I think might be coming the last week of the month all of this week.

Till the next one... Mike out.
