Snow Showers

Summary

After the big storm that came through we have snow showers hang around over the next 5 days. Accumulations will likely be very light over the 5 day period with the best chances for any accumulation being today, Wednesday and Saturday. Next week continues to look more active with a cut off low potentially bringing in a moderate storm over the Tuesday - Wednesday timeline.

Short Term Forecast

Storm Recap

18 inches fell at Main Lodge in the last 24 hours and 20 inches up top! That puts us at 664 inches for the season. The mtn. put out a message yesterday saying the missed a foot of snow in January! So with the additional foot and 18 inches yesterday we are now within 4 inches of beating the 2010 - 2011 season! That could happen within the next 5 days! We now have 154 inches for the month of March, which has put us at the 4th snowiest March on record. We'd need another 10 inches to break into the top 3 and that very well might happen in the last 9 days of the month.

Snow Showers through Sunday

The big storm is on it's way out. We have cold temps today in the 20's and decreasing winds. Gusts are up to 40 MPH currently but should die down even more in the afternoon into the 20 - 30 MPH range.

Snow showers are possible every day through Sunday with the best chance for accumulation being today and Saturday during the day. Today we could see an inch or 2 of accumulation and the same for Saturday. Friday the odds are better we could still see more snow but the models have changed that tune several times over the last few days. So no guarantees it will be a blue bird day.

Temps should be in the 20's throughout the next 5 days and winds should generally be on the lighter side up to 30 MPH out of the West and West Northwest.

Overall we're likely to see more clouds rather than much snow over the next 5 days. In the whole period we may see 3 - 5 inches of snow accumulate. That should give everyone a much needed break.

Extended Forecast

The week of Sunday the 26th of March into the end of the month continues to look active. We could see a moderate snow storm Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. There could be a cut off low that hangs around off the coast that rotates in waves of moisture throughout the week with light to moderate amounts of snowfall.

Overall it looks like next week will stay unsettled and on the colder side especially for late March into early April.

I'll provide more details as we continue to get closer and within the 5 day window.

Till the next one... Mike out.
