Snow, Rain, and More Snow on Tap
Summary
As of 7:00 a.m. Monday we have received about 8-10" of new snow at the 9,000' level with outside temps of 25 degrees. Be certain to check road conditions as there are multiple chain restrictions in place. I expect a colder system to bring snowfall to the town of Mammoth as well as Mammoth Mt., with between 1 and 2 feet of fresh powder between late Sunday night and Monday night. Winter storm warnings have been hoisted and will be in effect through Monday night. The town stands to pick up about a foot while areas between the Village and Canyon Lodge a bit more. The rest of the week looks very wet as a moderate to strong (AR) Atmospheric River (Pineapple Express) sets up between Hawaii and northern and central CA. The wettest period will be Tuesday into Wednesday a.m. where up to 4.5 inches of water equivalent in the form of snow, will fall over the crest. The snow level will be up to 9,000 feet at times.
