Last Weekend For Some Resorts

This weekend will be very mild and as a result will be the last time some resorts spin the lifts for the season - get out and enjoy while we still have snow! Sunday PM into next week we'll see the precip chances increase, with rain the main threat, but there could be snow at times as well.

Short Term Forecast

Snow Chances Saturday, March 2 to Sunday, March 10

North Shore Lake Superior

  • 40s for highs on Saturday at most resorts
    • A few rain or snow showers are possible
  • 40s and 50s on Sunday
  • Chance of showers and maybe some thunder/lightning Sunday PM into Monday am

South Shore Lake Superior

  • Rain chances increase from Sunday PM into Monday
  • Another mild weekend is on tap, with spring-like conditions on the slopes

With rain and mild temps this weekend we'll have to assess who remains open for next week and what terrain they are able to offer.

Twin Cities Region

  • Highs Saturday and Sunday in the 60s to low 70s

With how mild the temps will be over the weekend, we'll have to take things one day at a time for who remains open next week and what hours resorts are able to offer.

Central and Southern Wisconsin

This will be the last weekend for a few resorts in the region and that list could expand if we see rain next week as some models suggest. This weekend will be full of soft snow and spring-to-summer-like temps, with highs in the 50s and 60s on Saturday and 60s and 70s on Sunday.

Early next week I'll take inventory on who is left open but we will likely see a few resorts temporarily close to save their snow like Cascade has announced already.

Northern Lower Michigan

  • 40s and 50s on Saturday for highs
  • 50s and 60s on Sunday for highs
  • 60s likely on Monday for many locations
  • Rain chances increase next week
  • Ski and golf on the same day over at Caberfae

With how mild the temps will be over the next three days it will be interesting to see who and what terrain remains open - I'll keep my eyes open for any announcements resorts share.

Southern Lower Michigan

I've not seen official word from every resort, but this is the last weekend for many resorts in the region, with highs in the 50s mainly on Saturday and 60s on Sunday. If any resorts announce plans to be open beyond this weekend I'll keep you posted and keep the forecasts going.

Extended Forecast

Fantasy Land: Monday, March 11 to Sunday, March 17

  • Shocking! Models lean slightly warmer than normal
    • Confidence: Medium
  • Toss up if we see an active or quiet week

The next forecast will be posted on Sunday - thanks for reading!
