Break-off Low brings Widespread Snow to both sides of the Divide
Summary
A large Pacific low pressure system will spit a fairly strong bit of energy Wednesday night into Thursday that will develop into a closed low over Montana and track south to north along the Continental Divide. How it will track is still in question but the models are all in agreement that it will stick close to the Divide. What all this means is there will be widespread fresh snow on Thursday across both sides of the Divide with varying snow amounts ranging from 2” to 10” through Thursday night. Right now Whitefish looks in best position but Central areas like Great Divide and Showdown could also approach the upper ends of these snow totals. Colder and unsettled conditions will remain through the weekend.
