Wild Weather ahead
Summary
Breezy with light accumulations today for mainly the western and southwestern mountains in advance of a much bigger system poised to strike Western Montana tonight. A Pacific stream of moisture will hit first Saturday night and Sunday and by Sunday night combine with a strong arctic cold front shooting down from Canada and provide a 1-2 punch for Montana’s mountain regions. Up to 2’ are expected on the Pass levels West of the Divide with about a foot East of the Divide by Monday afternoon. Arctic cold, with 20 degrees below normal temps will prevail into next week. Later in the week a warm southwesterly flow will override the cold air from which models are now depicting as a heavy snow event for Thurs-Fri. Wild weather is synonymous with the Northern Rockies and we welcome it!
