Montana Daily Snow
By Bob Ambrose, Forecaster Posted 6 years ago January 8, 2018
Snowy week ahead…
Summary
A few inches fell over the past weekend at handful of areas across the state. NW Montana’s Turner Mountain was the winner with 3”, Big Sky, Bridger Bowl, Lookout and Whitefish all reported 2”. After a bout of high pressure on Monday things start getting unsettled on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Westsider’s will see snow Tuesday night into Wednesday with a warm SW flow interacting with cold air filtering over the Divide. A warm front then swings through on Thursday that could drop an additional foot for mainly areas north of I-90. Eastsider’s will see cold Canadian air filter into the SW areas on Wednesday where places like Big Sky and Bridger could see up to 4-8” by Wednesday evening. A brief break on Thursday will be followed by another decent disturbance Thursday night into Friday with another 4-8” likely at Big Sky. Long term forecast for next weekend looks to build a ridge of high pressure that will quiet a rather stormy pattern this week all across the Treasure State’s mountains.
