Let's get ready to rumble! Storm ski Thursday, powder (and wind) Friday, wildcard pow Saturday

Summary

Wednesday night is the calm before the two-punch storm. From Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon, the first wave of snow from the south will drop 2 to 7 inches across the central and northern mountains, favoring Santa Fe with wildcards for Sandia, Pajarito, and Sipapu. From Thursday evening through Friday morning a second wave from the southwest will drop an additional 2 to 8 inches across all mountains, favoring Santa Fe and Taos with wildcards for Pajarito, Sipapu and Red River. Strong unpredictable snow bands on Thursday and Friday mean that any mountain could see a surprise uptick (or a lower-end bust). Friday's first chair will be the best chance for fresh powder. By Friday mid-morning high winds kick in and will persist through the afternoon causing possible chairlift and high exposed terrain closures, and deep wind-loaded powder. Snow showers will linger Friday with another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation across highest elevations. Saturday will be mostly sunny and cold with strong potential for fresh powder on terrain that didn't open (or wasn't visible) Friday due to winds. Sunday and Monday are dry and cool. Chance for snow returns Tuesday and Wednesday.
