New Mexico Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest New Mexico Daily Snow

Spring powder Sunday northern Sangres

Summary

The northern Sangres received 6 to 14" through Sunday morning. A few more inches are possible favoring the southern Sangres and central and southern mountains on Sunday. Cool and unsettled weather continues through the week before warm Spring conditions return the weekend of April 25th.

Short Term Forecast

Backcountry and uphill access skiers and riders are enjoying 12 to 14" of fresh around Taos and the Wheeler Peak Wilderness on Sunday.

A solid skin track looker's left and some sweet pow turns down Kachina are evident on Sunday morning.

For backcountry snowpack questions and preparations in chasing this double-digit storm, consult with the Taos Avalanche Center's general spring snow discussion.

The current storm is spinning over Arizona and thankfully producing snow showers over the drought-ravaged southern mountains and Ski Apache.

Here is Ski Apache on Sunday.

This was Ski Apache on Saturday.

We will take it!

For the rest of Sunday look for a bit more precipitation from Ski Santa Fe down to Sandia Peak and hopefully more for the southern mountains.

Extended Forecast

Cooler than average temperatures will persist along the central mountain chain eastward through April 23rd thanks to a robust cold front that will back up against the mountains from the east.

But unfortunately, most precipitation during the next 5 days will remain to the north of New Mexico.

With the current double-digit storm winding down, and things looking fairly quiet the rest of April, I will post a final 2020-2021 season wrap-up on Monday.

¡Que viva la nieve!

¡Que viva Nuevo Mexico!
