Summary

Most South Island resorts remained closed Thursday due to strong winds and rain, followed by icy conditions. The Remarkables saw 2cm at the base and 16cm up high. Mt Ruapehu is experiencing heavy rain, with snow possible as conditions improve. Southwest winds will bring sunshine and warmer temperatures this weekend, with calm weather expected Monday.
