Update

Saturday's storm dropped 3 inches at mid-mountain and 4 inches at the summit, between about 5 am and midday. These amounts were lower than I expected, but we can't win 'em all. Thankfully we have additional storms in the forecast!

Now on Sunday morning, the temperature is a chilly -5F at mid-mountain at 9 am, but the full sunshine and blue skies will help to warm things up to the upper teens to low-20s by early afternoon. Enjoy a perfect blue-bird day with lots of powder stashes left around the mountain.

On Sunday night, clouds will once again cover the sky as the next storm moves toward Colorado. This storm will bring moisture to Colorado from Sunday night through Tuesday morning, but the wind direction will be from the south, and this is not a favorable direction for intense snow at Steamboat. So, for the weather on Monday, Monday night, and Tuesday morning, expect warmer temperatures thanks to the southerly winds (in the 20s) and times of dry weather, times of light snow, and potentially bursts of more intense precipitation. I kept the snow forecast on the low side due to the unfavorable wind direction from the southwest, but we could always get lucky and see a few heavier cells hit Steamboat. Some models show a better chance for a few bursts of snow occurring on Monday night, so keep your eye on the snow stake camera to catch the snow that does fall.

Following this storm, Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry. The next storm will bring snow from Wednesday night through Friday morning with the potential for 4-8 inches and the best powder on Thursday-day or Friday morning. After that, we’ll see a few more days of dry weather around President’s weekend and then we could see another storm around February 19th, ish.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
