Update

Recap of Friday and Friday night

Most of Friday was dry, then light snow returned on Friday night with one inch accumulating on the summit snow stake cam. Every flake of new snow helps to keep conditions soft, even if the amount is a low number.

Saturday and Sunday

The atmosphere will keep moisture around through the weekend, so expect more clouds than sunshine and light snow possible, especially from later Saturday through early Sunday. Maybe we’ll see a coating to a few inches by Sunday morning, so the soft conditions should continue.

Monday

Monday will be dry and mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. If you like skiing in the sunshine, you haven’t had much chance to do so during the past 10 days (not that I’m complaining about the snow!). Monday will be your chance to ski in the sun with good visibility.

Tuesday and Wednesday

We should see more clouds and maybe times of light snow as a weak system moves through Colorado. Snow amounts will be on the low side.

Wednesday night and Thursday

A stronger storm will hit on Wednesday night with snow likely continuing through Thursday afternoon. A powder day on Thursday is likely with snow amounts greater than 6 inches. It’ll be a couple of days before we know the exact track of this storm, which will determine our wind direction, which will determine how much snow we’ll get. For now, pencil in Thursday as a possible powder day and we’ll refine the details soon.

After December 13th

I do not know what next weekend and the week after will hold. All forecast models show storms moving close to or over Colorado, but there is no consensus about the details of the forecast. Stay tuned.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
