Update

Recap of Saturday and Saturday night

Saturday brought times of light snow and also some sunshine. Then a final piece of energy moved across northern Colorado on Saturday night and this delivered 2-3 inches of snow to the mountain.

Sunday

Sunday is the 10th of the past 11 days when Steamboat reported fresh snow, which is a remarkable stretch! Light snow should continue through the morning then the rest of the day will see a mix of low clouds and some sunshine. Enjoy the fantastic, soft conditions!

Monday

Monday will be dry and mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. If you like skiing in the sunshine, you haven’t had much chance to do so during the past 11 days (not that I’m complaining about the snow!). Monday will be your chance to ski in the sun with good visibility.

Monday night through Wednesday morning

We’ll see some clouds, some sunshine, and also the chance for light snow.

Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning

A storm will arrive on Wednesday later afternoon and snow should continue through early Thursday morning. This storm will be strong, which is good, but I am keeping my expectations in check because the storm will move through quickly, have limited moisture, and the days before the storm will be dry means that the base will be a bit on the firm side. No matter, mark your calendar for Thursday morning as we will likely see 3-6 inches of new snow, and midweek days with fresh turns are hard to beat.

Weekend of December 14-16

Friday will be dry, then I do not know what will happen on Saturday and Sunday. Some models show dry weather, others show a chance for light snow. We’ll see.

Week of December 17-21

The longer-range outlooks show a decent chance for one or two storms this week. Again, it’s too soon to pin down the details, but I have my eye on the potential for more powder.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
