Steamboat Daily Snow

By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 3 years ago March 29, 2022
Snow Tuesday into Wednesday
Summary
Spring is out and winter is back with snow and possible powder back in the forecast.
Update
Monday was the final warm and dry day, then on Monday night, the weather took a turn toward winter with snowflakes in the air and about one inch of accumulation by Tuesday morning at 500am.
Now on Tuesday morning, snow continues to fall and there will be another 2-3 inches of accumulations by the time the lifts open.
From Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening, a favorable wind from the west and west-northwest should deliver the steadiest snow of the storm. And from Tuesday evening through Wednesday, there should be more snow showers, but I have lower confidence in significant snow accumulations. Storm total snowfall should be in the 5-10 inch range, and I think the softest and deepest riding should be either the last chair on Tuesday or the first chair on Wednesday (if enough snow falls after lifts close on Tuesday afternoon).
Following the storm, we'll see dry weather from Wednesday night through Thursday night, then the next storm will bring snow from Thursday night through Friday. This storm will have a wind from the west, which is favorable for Steamboat and this could produce 4+ inches of snow and a sneaky fun low-end powder day on Friday.
After that, Saturday and Sunday should be dry and warm with high temperatures in the 30s, then we could see a storm around Monday, April 4 to Tuesday, April 5.
