Sun on Saturday, snow on Sunday

Summary

Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high temperature in the 20s. Then we will see snow on Sunday and for many days next week.

Update

Friday was a gorgeous day with sunny skies and a comfortable high temperature ranging from the mid-20s to the low-30s.

Now on Saturday morning, the snow stake is dry, and we'll have another lovely day with partly-to-mostly sunny skies and a high temperature in the 20s to low 30s.

On Sunday, snow will begin to fall around sunrise and we could see 4-8 inches of accumulation through midday due to storm energy tracking over the northern mountains of Colorado plus a favorable wind direction from the west. Most of this snow will fall after the 5:00 a.m. report and so it will not be noted on Sunday morning's snow report.

On Monday, we should see few or no snow showers as we will be in between storms.

From Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning, additional snow is likely and amounts could be 6-12+ inches with powder possible on Tuesday morning. However, I have low confidence in this forecast, and I am keeping my expectations low.

During the day on Tuesday, the wind direction may slowly shift to blow from an unfavorable west-southwest and southwest direction and this would begin to decrease snowfall rates during the day.

Then on Wednesday and Thursday, a strong storm will move across Colorado and this will bring more snow, though the wind direction will be from the southwest or west-southwest, which is unfavorable for a lot of snow and may lead to just lower snow totals.

Later in the week, from Thursday night to Saturday (Feb. 23-25), a storm stalled near the west coast will push more snow showers over Colorado, though an unfavorable wind direction from the southwest may continue and this would keep snow accumulations low.
