The most snow should fall during the middle of the week

Summary

Monday and Tuesday could bring snow showers, then more intense snow should fall from Tuesday night through Wednesday night.

Update

Sunday morning's storm delivered 4-5 inches of snow. This was the most snow that fell across Colorado and was a good amount for a fast-moving system with its track only clipping northern Colorado.

To begin the week on Monday and Tuesday, I think we'll see times of just lighter snowfall. There will be a lot of moisture in the air, but the storm energy that we need to lift the air and convert the moisture into snow will generally stay too far to the north. It is possible that we will see accumulating snow on Monday and Tuesday, it's just that my snow accumulation expectations are low. Still, I'll be watching the snow stake to see if my expectations can be exceeded, which has happened many times this season.

Then from Tuesday night through Wednesday evening, storm energy will move directly across Colorado. This will be when we will see the most intense snow, and there should be 4-10 inches of accumulation with powder likely sometime on Wednesday or perhaps into Thursday morning.

After this round of snow during the middle of the week, there will be additional snow showers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, though I think snow accumulations will be pretty low due to a mostly unfavorable wind direction from the southwest.

Looking further ahead, we should see another storm from late Sunday through Monday (February 26-27), and then another stormy weather pattern could set up roughly between March 2-7.
