A snowy week, but likely not deep accumulations

Summary

Snow will fall from Tuesday night to Friday, though an unfavorable storm track should keep accumulations on the lower end.

Update

On Monday, we saw a period of light snow with about 2 inches of accumulation across the mountain. We had a lot of moisture in the atmosphere on Monday, but unfortunately, storm energy stayed just a bit too far to the north and wasn't close enough to convert the moisture into snowflakes.

Now on Tuesday, I expect mostly dry weather with some sunshine. We will be ahead of the storm that will bring snow for the rest of the week.

From Tuesday night through Friday, snow will be possible each day and each night, however, the overall weather pattern will not be favorable for a lot of snow at Steamboat since the wind direction will mostly be from the southwest, and this is not a good wind direction for us.

The first part of the storm from Tuesday night to Wednesday night will likely bring the best chance for moderate snow totals with maybe 4-8 inches as storm energy tracks directly over Colorado. This might result in some powder on Wednesday during the day and maybe also on Thursday morning if some of this snow falls after lifts close on Wednesday afternoon.

Then on Thursday, Thursday night, and Friday, snow showers will continue, though an unfavorable wind direction from the southwest will continue, so I expect just lighter snow accumulations during this time. Of note, Thursday and Friday will be chilly with high temperatures in the teens.

Friday night through Sunday morning will be dry, then the next storm should bring a moderate amount of snow from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning and there could be some powder for Monday morning's first chair.

Looking further ahead, we should see a few dry days between about February 27 and March 1, then more snow is likely during the March 2-7 timeframe.
