Spring ends, winter returns

Summary

Thursday will start with dry weather and end with snow, and then snow will continue through Friday evening. There should be some powder on Friday and also on Saturday morning.

Update

Wednesday was about as classic as spring skiing can get with mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures that rose to the 30s and 40s.

Now on Thursday morning, we are starting the day with warm temperatures in the 20s and 30s, dry weather, and partly sunny skies.

Thursday afternoon will deliver an abrupt change in the weather as the storm arrives. We should see a burst of snow sometime between about 2-4 pm and this could deliver a few inches of snow through the early evening.

Thursday night through Friday night will be 24 hours of snow showers. Due to favorable temperatures and a favorable wind direction from the west, I think we'll see 7-13 inches during this time with some powder on Friday morning, powder getting deeper through the day on Friday, and then a little bit of additional snow on Friday night. The timing of this snow means that the best chance for softer conditions and powder should be on Friday during the day, with some fresh fluff also available on Saturday morning. If we get about 8 inches or more, then the powder will be enjoyable on top of the hard, non-groomed surfaces, and otherwise, the best conditions will likely be the fresh snow on top of the groomers.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be dry, mostly sunny, and spring-like with high temperatures in the 30s.

The next storm will arrive between April 4-6. It's still a bit early to figure out the details, but we should see snow from Monday night through Wednesday with the best powder either on Tuesday or Wednesday.
