The 10+ day outlook

Summary

On Sunday night we saw light snow, and now we'll keep our eye on a mid-week storm.

Update

Between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, a final wave of moisture and storm energy moved across the northern mountains and we were able to eke out about 3 inches at mid-mountain on Sunday night. This should preserve/create a softer snow surface now on Monday morning, and Monday's high temperature should be in the 20s.

For the upcoming week, a storm will track to the south of Colorado from Tuesday through Thursday. We may see snow showers with light accumulations during any of these three days, though the best chance for more meaningful snowfall will stay well to the south of the mountain. High temperatures will generally range from the upper 20s to the low 30s.

Then from Friday, December 15 to Wednesday, December 20, we will be in a dry weather pattern with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the 30s.

Our next chance for stormy weather will begin on or after about Thursday, December 21st. During the final ten days of December, the longer-range forecast guidance shows a decent chance that storminess over the west coast will move east and bring snow to Colorado, but this favorable change in the weather pattern could take a while to develop, and meaningful snow may not arrive until closer to Christmas.

Our current snowpack is in pretty good shape, and we'll hold on to the snowpack due to the low sun angle now in mid-December, so that's good news. But we'll need to wait a while for the next significant snowstorm.
