Snow Saturday into Sunday

Summary

The storm should ramp up on Saturday afternoon with the highest chance for snow through Sunday morning.

Update

On Saturday morning, the main part of the storm has not arrived for us, and the snow stake is mostly dry (there are a few flakes on there if you look closely!).

By Saturday afternoon, we should see snow begin, and snow should fall from then through Sunday morning.

While the storm track is not super favorable for deep accumulations, the latest forecast models show that we might get lucky with a narrow band of more intense snow setting up over the western part of Colorado, and this could bring us more snow than I previously thought.

I think 3-6 inches is still a good base-case forecast, but we might go higher than that if (a) we get the narrow band of intense snow on Saturday evening, and (b) we can eke out additional snow showers on Sunday as the storm moves away to the east. Sometimes, these departing storms can strengthen and produce more snow than expected behind the system.

The summary is to watch out for fresh snow on Sunday morning, and if we're lucky, we'll see more snow and soft conditions persist through the day.

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be chilly with high temperatures in the teens, then we'll see a slight warm-up with high temperatures in the 20s for the rest of the week.

Following the storm this weekend, most of Christmas week will be dry with just a lower chance for some snow showers earlier in the week.

There could be more snow during the first five days of 2024, but that's pretty speculative at this point, so we'll wait and see and hope for the best.

Thanks for reading!
